The East Wing is an award‑winning audio post‑production facility based in Newcastle upon Tyne, delivering high‑quality work across drama, children’s television, commercials and factual content for major UK broadcasters and global streaming platforms.

Recent projects include work for the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, Netflix and Disney+. As the company continues to grow, The East Wing is seeking a talented Post Production Audio Engineer to join the team and contribute to the delivery of premium broadcast and streaming projects.

This is a full‑time, client‑facing studio role based entirely on site at The East Wing. Due to the collaborative nature of the work, remote or hybrid working is not possible.

Who Are We Looking For?

The East Wing is looking for an experienced Post Production Audio Engineer who can:

  • Lead ADR, VO and voice‑to‑picture recording sessions with talent, producers and agency clients
  • Tracklay, edit dialogue and design sound with sensitivity to narrative and tone
  • Mix stereo and 5.1 content to UK broadcast loudness standards
  • Create and manage full mix stems, versioning and final deliverables
  • Maintain rigorous QC standards and meet technical delivery specifications
  • Organise session structures and workflows across shared storage systems
  • Prepare sessions in advance to ensure efficient client‑attended bookings
  • Liaise effectively with producers, editors and post teams
  • Represent the studio professionally in attended and remote sessions

This role suits someone who is confident in client‑facing environments, remains calm under pressure, and takes pride in delivering high‑quality work.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Professional experience in a broadcast post‑production environment
  • Proven experience mixing longform and/or commercial content for UK broadcasters or streaming platforms
  • Advanced proficiency in Avid Pro Tools
  • Strong understanding of UK broadcast delivery standards and workflows
  • Experience delivering full stems and managing mix versioning
  • Strong understanding of audio signal flow within professional studio settings
  • Excellent communication and client‑facing skills
  • Strong problem‑solving ability and calmness under pressure
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high technical standards
  • Highly organised with a structured approach to project management
  • Positive, professional attitude with strong teamwork skills

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Relevant technical or software certifications
  • Experience with drama workflows
  • Experience mixing in Dolby Atmos
  • Familiarity with plugins such as RX, Waves, Nugen or FabFilter
  • Experience using remote recording platforms (Source Connect, Nexus Gateway, SessionLinkPro)
  • Working knowledge of Reaper and/or Nuendo

  • Editing observational, character‑driven documentaries or sports documentaries
  • Working closely with the production team to shape narrative and story
  • Delivering to a fast‑turnaround schedule

Previous experience cutting documentaries of a similar style is essential.
