We a running an event aimed at female, non-binary and trans+ directors and creatives looking to cross over into directing comedy.
The event, led by Comedy 50:50 with support from North East Screen, will take place at The Black Swan on the 20th of March and offers women, non-binary and trans+ people the chance to learn from top industry professionals about the intricacies of directing scripted comedy for television and film. Whether you’re just starting out in your career or have experience in other creative platforms like short film, live theatre, corporate, or social media, this event is tailor-made for you.
Key speaker Chuckie McEwan, Head of Production at Grey Moth will introduce the session giving insights into her career journey a film producer, financier and commissioner. This will be followed by a panel/Q&A event with Chuckie, and Glasgow based screenwriter and director Niamh McKeown.
After the panel event, stick around for some casual networking and drinks. Rub elbows with fellow creatives and representatives from production companies, BBC Comedy, Comedy 50:50, Film Hub North, and North East Screen.
Comedy 50:50 is an initiative to address gender imbalance in comedy. The programme started by supporting female and non-binary writers and now is encouraging female and non-binary directors from any creative or corporate space to who are curious about directing scripted comedy TV to come along to the event and find out more.
This is a free event aimed at female, non-binary and trans+ directors and creatives. Doors will open at 6pm for the event to start at 6:30pm.
